Executive Overview

Zain Ali Agharia is a highly accomplished Robotics and Mechatronics Engineer based in Melbourne, Australia. Currently serving as a Mechatronics Engineer at Jenesys—a wholly-owned subsidiary of 4DS Memory Limited (ASX:4DS)—his groundbreaking work spans conventional robotics and deep learning–driven autonomy. Holding a Bachelor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering (AI) with First Class Honours from Monash University, Zain has built an impressive record of measurable impact at the exact point where artificial intelligence meets physical systems. His exceptional contributions to the field were recognized nationally when he was named a finalist for AI Software Engineer of the Year at the Australian AI Awards 2025.

Professional Journey & Impact

Zain possesses a rare breadth of experience, having successfully shipped working systems across satellites, autonomous road vehicles, drones, robotic manipulators, and multi-agent swarms. At Akula Tech, he delivered critical flight software for a 16U satellite and engineered a machine learning optimization pipeline for resource-constrained space environments. This innovation reduced model sizes by up to 70% and accelerated inference fourfold, all while maintaining comparable accuracy. His career is defined by taking advanced research directly into deployment—from building a 1/10th-scale autonomous F1 car integrating LiDAR and onboard compute systems for his university honors project, to deploying real-time C++ inference models at the edge. Before joining Jenesys to build decentralized edge-AI swarm technology, Zain advanced autonomous vehicle navigation at Applied EV, where he integrated GPS and CAN-based IMU hardware for the Blanc Robot vehicle. He also configured autonomous control modules for an electric van with Monash Connected Autonomous Vehicles and developed control algorithms for dual-arm robotic manipulators. Dedicated to knowledge sharing, he has actively trained the next generation of engineers in smart systems and intelligent robotics as a Teaching Associate at his alma mater.

Core Areas of Expertise

  • Space & Edge AI: Optimizing machine learning models for severely resource-constrained environments and deploying strict, low-latency C++ inference pipelines.
  • Autonomous Robotics & Swarm Tech: Engineering perception, planning, and control architectures for autonomous vehicles, manipulators, and multi-agent drone swarms.
  • Embedded Flight Systems: Developing mission-critical flight software, executing complex sensor fusion, and validating hardware-in-the-loop testing pipelines for multi-year orbital readiness.

What to Expect at TechX Summit

As AI fundamentally reshapes software development and the physical machines that depend on it, Zain offers an unparalleled perspective on translating complex simulations into validated, real-world hardware. Attendees at the TechX Summit can expect a deeply technical and visionary session on edge computing, spaceborne machine learning, and the future of trustworthy, decentralized autonomous swarms coordinating across air, land, sea, and space. We are absolutely thrilled to have him onboard to share his blueprint for the next generation of autonomous systems!
