Holding a PhD in cyber terrorism and control systems security, Dr Beggs operates at the vital intersection of engineering and cyber defense. He is dedicated to addressing a critical reality: protecting the industrial systems that the world depends on—from refineries and power stations to water utilities and rail networks—requires a distinct discipline, as conventional IT-centric approaches fundamentally fail in live, safety-critical environments.

Since founding SIS in 2010, Dr Beggs has successfully led over 300 major projects across the energy, water, transport, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. Under his strategic leadership, with offices spanning the APAC and EMEA regions, his team delivers end-to-end capabilities across the threat lifecycle—working seamlessly with both plant operators and CISOs. A true innovator, he developed the widely adopted Industrial Cyber Security Principle Method™ and established a dedicated OT Security Operations Centre (SOC) and the Industrial Cyber Security Assessment Scorecard. To further professionalize the industry, he created the Certified Industrial Cyber Security Specialist (CICSS) program, training hundreds of practitioners worldwide. He is also a published researcher, a frequent keynote speaker, and the author of the highly anticipated book, One Hack Away.
